In a notable initiative led by the Environmental and Social Management Strengthening Program of the Ministry of Mining of Catamarca, a specialized training session was held on April 10 for the municipal staff of the Medanitos delegation, in the town of Fiambalá. This initiative aims to strengthen skills and competencies in key areas related to mining and environmental management.

The course was led by Araceli Quinteros and Brisa Olmos, third-year students of the Advanced Technical Degree in Mining Processes, who are currently undertaking an internship at the Fiambalá Environmental Mining Control Center. They were accompanied by Pablo Pereyra, the center's supervisor, who oversaw the training. Topics covered during the session included Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), environmental assessment, and management practices, with the goal of raising safety and operational standards in the region.

The training session was organized in collaboration with the Environmental Mining Control Center (CCMA), with support from Zijin Mining - Liex and the ATE union, Fiambalá chapter. Participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity and requested the continuation of such training sessions, reflecting a strong local interest in institutional development and capacity building in the mining sector.

Funded by the Federal Investment Council (CFI), the program’s main objective is to continuously improve environmental management in the mining sector and to provide comprehensive training that benefits both the local community—connected to mining projects—and the Environmental Mining Control Centers. This approach not only aims to optimize environmental monitoring and oversight activities but also to foster more effective interaction between the community and the mining sector.
