The Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated the participation of a delegation of authorities and entrepreneurs from the Argentine mining sector in the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) fair, which takes place every year in Toronto, Canada, from March 3 to 6.

The first day of the fair was marked by the celebration of "Argentina Day," an event organized by the Argentine Embassy in Canada and the Consulate General in Toronto. During this event, the Undersecretary for Export Promotion, Investments, Education, Science, and Culture of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ramiro Velloso, presented an overview of the Argentine mining industry and the existing investment opportunities in the sector to companies and potential investors.

Additionally, the Governor of San Juan, Marcelo Orrego, and high authorities from the provinces of Catamarca, Jujuy, Salta, La Rioja, Santa Cruz, and Mendoza presented mining opportunities in their respective provinces.

On the other hand, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a working meeting with the Director-General of Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship, and SMEs of the European Union (DG GROW), Kerstin Jorna. During the meeting, they expressed that the requirements for mineral resources for the transition to clean energy present significant opportunities for Argentina as a key player in global energy security.

During the second day, the Argentine institutional stand at the PDAC was inaugurated. The ceremony was led by the president of the Argentine Agency for Investment and International Trade (AAICI), Julián Cohen, and attended by authorities from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and provincial governments, potential investors, and companies in the sector.

During the last two days of the fair, provincial delegations were assisted by officials from the Consulate General in Toronto in organizing their meetings with mining companies and potential investors. Among others, mining authorities from Salta, Jujuy, San Juan, and La Rioja met with the Secretary of Mines of India, Kantha Rao. Additionally, Salta and Catamarca held discussions with the Director of the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals, and Sustainable Development (IGF). The Forum supports nations committed to mobilizing mining resources for sustainable development to ensure that negative impacts are limited, and financial benefits are shared.
