The Group of Mining Exploration Companies of the Argentine Republic (GEMERA) has announced the new formation of its Board of Directors, which will lead the organization in its mission to promote the sustainable development of the mining industry in the country.

The structure of the new Board of Directors is as follows:

  • President: Andes Corporación Minera SA - McEwen Copper Inc
  • Secretary: Mansfield Minera SA
  • Treasurer: Aldebaran Argentina SA
  • Regular Member: AbraPlata Argentina SA
  • Alternate Member: Pampa Exploración SA
  • Regular Auditor: Hanaq Argentina SA
  • Alternate Auditor: Nevado Minerals SA

Michael Meding, General Manager of Los Azules and Vice President of McEwen Copper, will assume the presidency representing Andes Corporación Minera SA. Meding is a prominent executive with over 20 years of experience in global companies such as McEwen Mining, Barrick Gold, and Trafigura. He currently leads the development of the Los Azules project, one of the world's most important copper projects located in San Juan, Argentina.

With a strong background in economics and business administration, Meding has demonstrated his ability to manage large projects and teams in challenging environments. Under his leadership and in conjunction with the Board of Directors, GEMERA will focus on driving investment so that mining projects in the exploration stage become engines of development, while also continuing to work with communities to strengthen the social license necessary for their success.

"The new Board of Directors aims to contribute to the expansion of mining activity in Argentina and the sustainable growth of the sector, reflecting GEMERA's commitment to development that benefits both the industry and local communities," stated the group in a press release.
