The Salta Government has given the green light for the construction of a photovoltaic plant at Lindero Mine, endorsing the use of more sustainable energy sources in mining activities. This installation will generate 6 MW, thereby meeting a portion of the energy needs required for the industrial operations of the gold project.

Resolution 10/23 from the Secretary of Mining and Energy of the province has approved the Environmental Impact Report, authorizing the construction of this photovoltaic plant operated by the local subsidiary Mansfield Minera S.A. This step marks a significant move towards reducing reliance on diesel generation, concurrently promoting the transition to cleaner energy sources in industrial processes.

It is worth noting that the Salta puna region offers optimal solar radiation conditions, facilitating the implementation of solar generation technologies in projects of this nature.

The evaluation process for project approval, conducted by professionals from the Management and Mining Police, as well as Environmental Energy Oversight areas, adhered to the competencies of the responsible body.

"This initiative aligns with Axis No. 9 of Renewable Energies of the Provincial Plan for Sustainable Mining Development 2030, consolidating the government's policy to promote the use of clean energy in the mining industry. Lindero Mine joins other similar projects, such as the 120 KW photovoltaic plant of the Mariana lithium project, currently under construction in the Llullaillaco Salt Flat," stated officials from the local Secretary.

Commencing production in October 2020, the Lindero project has currently created 600 jobs and, according to the Ministry of Mining and Energy, "implements environmental and gender policies with a positive impact on local communities, especially in Tolar Grande".
