The meeting was attended by authorities from the Ministry of Mining of the province and aimed to promote proactive and higher-value relationships with local suppliers, who are essential to the mining value chain.

Mariana Azcona, Director of Mining Development at the Ministry of Mining of San Juan, emphasized: “The importance of supporting local development, as it is a challenge for service providers to meet the standards of operating and exploration companies in San Juan."

The meeting served as a space for Glencore Pachón to present its new strategy for joint work, which aims to foster strong and transparent relationships with local suppliers. The approach is based on equal opportunities, mutual trust, and transparency in processes.

Santiago Albar Díaz, Coordinator of Local Supplier Development, stated: “This meeting was very enriching to understand the work expectations of local suppliers, listen to their experiences, and identify opportunities to improve our processes so they are beneficial for both parties.”

As part of the event, the company presented the “Glencore Guide for Mining Suppliers,” a document detailing the contracting methodology, bidding processes, evaluation matrices, and analysis of bidders. It also includes technical requirements, safety regulations, training proposals, and workshops aimed at strengthening local suppliers in presenting bids.

Leonardo Heras, Supply Manager at Glencore Pachón, stressed: “We aim to create a paradigm shift and work together with suppliers to promote the economic growth of San Juan. Our commitment is to move forward with an integrated local development program, which includes a schedule of regular meetings to share the challenges faced by the project, keep them informed, address concerns, and provide training on key aspects for efficiency and shared success."

The meeting was attended by representatives from the main sector chambers, such as the Calingasta Mining Services Chamber (CASEMICA), the Calingasta Business Chamber (CAEMCA), the San Juan Mining Services Chamber (CASEMI), and the Interdepartmental Mining Suppliers Chamber of San Juan (CAPRIMSA).

For his part, Augusto Lucas, a member of CASEMICA, celebrated the initiative and highlighted: “As a local company, we value these types of meetings because they allow us to understand the needs of the project, its status, and its future. It helps us prepare and support, and also adapt to Glencore’s standards as strategic partners of El Pachón.”

"This new working model represents a starting point towards a common agenda that seeks opportunities and addresses challenges in a sustainable way, consolidating a more fruitful relationship between Glencore Pachón and its local partners," concluded the Swiss mining company, which operates in San Juan and Catamarca.
